New Bar Code Technology Touts Improved Accuracy, Seamless Order Check-In System for Correct Rx Pharmacy Customers March 21, 2006 Linthicum, Maryland - Correct Rx Pharmacy Services, a full-service pharmacy for the correctional and senior care markets, launched a new bar code technology, arming customers with the tools and knowledge to improve accuracy and check-in orders more efficiently.
“When you're dealing with filling prescriptions, especially in an industry where accuracy and efficiency are paramount, our customers deserve the best on-site quality control methods,” said Ellen Yankellow, president and CEO of Correct Rx. “By seamlessly linking customers to the Correct Rx system, using the bar-code technology to quickly confirm shipment contents and at the same time prevent human error, we allow our customers to focus on creating a safer and healthier environment.”
The process begins when Correct Rx employees use the Web-Based Advanced Bar Code Technology to scan a bar code attached to a prescription to verify that the prescription in the shipping container completely corresponds with the customer's prescription order. When the prescription arrives, the facility medical personnel scans the bar code on the medication order, which also lists the shipment contents, and the Web-based program double checks the scanned contents against the actual packing list. This double check saves time and reduces human error when unpacking prescription orders. However, if a discrepancy occurs, the system automatically submits a report to the customer as well as to Correct Rx so that the problem can be easily rectified.
“The double verification process provides an extra level of quality control and efficiency that is unique to Correct Rx's web-based application,” Yankellow explained. “Correct Rx is proud to launch this technology and advance the way our industry serves these special communities.”
The Correct Rx bar code verification system is currently in place as a pilot program. Correct Rx plans to offer opportunities to implement the bar coding technology into additional customers' order receiving systems in the near future.
